Kiss My Curves

A friend posted this article from SFGate this evening about "Christina Aguilera silences weight critics" I loved it so much I had to share it here:

Singer Christina Aguilera has spoken out to silence critics poking fun at her weight, revealing she’s “very confident” with her body and “that’s all that matters.”

The “Beautiful” hitmaker has been criticized by gossips in recent years for showing off a curvier figure, but Aguilera has chosen to ignore the massive media scrutiny – because she’s perfectly happy in her own skin.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference for singing show “The Voice” on Friday, she said, “I’ve been in this (business) for a long time. I came out on the scene when I was 17 years old. You can never be too much of anything. You can never be too perfect, too thin, too curvy, voluptuous, this, that. I’ve been on all sides of the spectrum as far as any female in this business…

“As long as I’m happy in my own skin, that’s all I need. I’m happy with where I’m at. I have a boyfriend that loves my body. I love my body. My son is healthy and happy. That’s all that matters… I think my video works over the years have spoken to that… As you know, ‘Dirty’ and so on, and ‘Lady Marmalade’. I’ve been no stranger to being very comfortable in my own skin to take those risks, to take those chances.”

The pop star is currently dating production assistant Matthew Rutler. She shares three-year-old son Max with ex-husband Jordan Bratman.

As a plus-sized fashionista and self-proclaimed "big mouth broad" I applaud anyone who stands up for being comfortable in your own skin. Who thumbs their nose at today's pop culture's belief that every woman should strive to look like she's malnourished...for embracing who you are and knowing that any size can be sexy.

So thank you Christina for showing that curves (real curves) are sexy as ever... and to anyone who doesn't like it.  You can

  2. As a man that loves to cook I want a woman that enjoys eating as much as I do cooking. I am not going to spend hours cooking for her to turn around and say she just wants a salad. Beauty isn't skin deep true beauty lies within.

  4. I think she looks AMAZING! It's so silly that people have to be rail thin to look good. I always say, "Worry about being healthy instead of being skinny."

  6. I think the most important thing is to embrace a healthy and positive YOU rather than what some idiot in the media says. If you're happy, do you. If you're not, change it til you are. It's simple!
